Eric Lefkofsky: Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Innovator.

Eric Lefkofsky has had a lot of impacts in different industry areas. He is involved in e-commerce and is a chairman and co-founder of Groupon. Also, he invests in disruptive technology business through Lightbank, another business which he co-founded. Additionally, he is co-founder of a lot of other prestigious companies which include InnerWorkings, Echo Global Logistics, and Mediaocean.He was born to the family of a structural engineers, Bill, and a school teacher, Sandy. He is of Jewish descent, and he spent his childhood years growing up in Southfield, Michigan. He grew up with two siblings, a brother named Steven as well as a sister named Jodi. His brother is an attorney while his sister used to be a school teacher. He went to high school at Southfield-Lathrup. After his graduation in 1987, he attended the Michigan University where he finished with honors in the year1991. He was at the  Michigan University Law School until 1993 when he gained his Juris Doctor.

He has helped in improving the lives of people in various communities through the Lefkofsky Family Foundation which he and his wife, named Liz, operate. They come up with different initiatives which usually have significant impacts in such communities. He is the author of the book Accelerated Disruption: Understanding the True Speed of Innovation. He is the chairman of the Board of Trustees of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company. He is also a trustee of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry and also the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is also a temporary professor at Chicago University.

He is the co-founder and CEO of Tempus. This is a company dedicated to developing a better approach to eradicate cancer They have created an operating system help achieve this goal. Through the use of unique interactive analytical platforms, patients can get care which is specific to their needs from their physicians.There is also genomic sequencing technology which helps to increase the information available on each patient’s cancer or tumor. Through data gathered, there is an improvement in each patient’s chances by equipping physicians with data on prior treatments carried out on other patients.

The success and recognition Eric Pulier enjoys today came from the commitment he put to pursuing his dream and ensuring the projects he worked on earned positive results. He is among professionals whose career has helped to build others and to offer direction to the growth and development of technology.

He launched companies along the way, some of which he still owns while others he sold. His passion for entrepreneurship and building unique products led him to pursuing computing and its application to building businesses. Eric Pulier has also been spending towards supporting philanthropic foundations across the world, more particularly foundations that support children battling chronic illnesses.

Educational profile

From as young as fourth grade, Eric Pulier showed great passion for computing and technology and wanted to one day be among top technologists and entrepreneurs. He, therefore, started researching and learning about the subject and when he joined high school, he had an idea, which helped him to launch a database company.

The company motivated him to further build his skills and understand his capabilities and the things he could achieve through technology. In 1984, he graduated from Teaneck High School and moved ahead to the Harvard University, where the university allowed him to pursue English and American Literature. At the same time, he registered at the MIT College to take Computer Science, which would perfectly serve his passion. He pursued these courses carefully and managed to graduate in 1988 with high honors.

Career and successes

Eric Pulier has built his career for more than 20 years and it is the effort he put to nurturing his skills that led him to building companies and facilities that allowed his bid for entrepreneurship to proceed seamlessly. He also worked with the government during the inauguration of Bush and Al Gore in 1997 and his role was to arrange and present the technology exhibition. Wittingly, he planned the whole presentation and showcased the achievements the government had made while also highlighting the future and what plans the government had for the nation. This was a perfect time for him to explore his talent and further push his career to grow.

 

Dick DeVos Impressive Resume

Dick DeVos has spent his life in the business field and over the years he has put together an impressive resume. His longest held position started in 1993, where he helped co-found the Grand Action Committee. He has been with the company for 23 years now. He also became the President of Amway in 1993 where he ran the company successfully until leaving in 2002. During his tenure the company posted large profits, reporting $4.5 billion in sales during his final year there alone. As President of Amy he was in charge of all Amway operations in over 50 countries. Before taking the position as president he served as the company’s Vice-President. After leaving Amway in 2002 he became the President of the Windquest Group, a privately owned Michigan based investment management firm. He still holds that title today. DeVos, a religious man, became the Vice-Chairman of the Willow Creek Association. The group is a collection pastors throughout the country that specializes in improving leadership skills.

In 2010 Dick DeVos added two more positions to his already incredible resume, this time in the public sector. He earned a seat on the Board of Directors with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and as the Founder and Chairman of the West Michigan Aviation Academy. The West Michigan Aviation Academy is a high school that focuses on aviation skills for students who plan to go in the field. He remains with both groups today. DeVos also started the Education Freedom Fund, which has given out over 4,000 scholarships to students in Michigan.

He has also led several initiatives for the Grand Rapids downtown area helping raise millions of dollars in funding for a $75 million downtown arena, a $212 million convention center, a $130 million heart hospital, a $90 million medical school, and a $30 million Downtown Market. In 2006 he was a Republican candidate for Governor and is the author of New York Times best-selling book, “Rediscovering American Values“, which was published in 1997.
