Larkin And Lacey Remembers Fight With Arpaio

The history of the United States included controversial and questionable presidential pardons. In the recent past, President Donald Trump pardoned a certain sheriff named Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona.

It was the first pardon that the U.S. President issued, but it is still shaping the nation’s social discourse today. One of Arpaio’s misdemeanors, according to reports, is the wrongful incarceration of Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey. Read more: Michael Lacey | Twitter and Jim Larkin | Crunchbase

When he assumed the sheriff’s office, Joe Arpaio was told in multiple cases what he was legally allowed and what he was not. Judge Murray Snow, a United States District Judge told Arpaio in 2011 that incarcerating immigrants on grounds of suspicion is not enough to get them detained. Since no evidence was found showing that the detainee had or didn’t have proper status, holding that individual goes against the U.S. constitution.

Eventually, the misdemeanors of Joe Arpaio were brought to the open when a lawsuit was filed against him about 10 years ago. The lawsuit disclosed the adverse conditions endured by the Tent City inmates. Based on the information contained in the lawsuit, the former sheriff was charged with violating the rights of immigrant groups including the Latinos.

This was the time when Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey began to make waves against Joe Arpaio by exposing his misdeeds against immigrants to the America people.

They used their publication to write about the sheriff and butted heads against his department on many occasions. This led to the arrest of Larkin and Lacey which was only made possible when a special prosecution team zeroed in on them. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey:

A grand jury was created for that purpose which induced the pair to report the sheriff’s ‘criminal activities’ in their own publication, the Phoenix New Times. Larkin and Lacey released news stories exposing Arpaio but other newspapers did not even cover the sheriff at all.

But Arpaio is somehow connected to Trump, being a supporter of the then U.S. presidential candidate. Arpaio endorsed Trump at the early stages of the U.S. presidential campaign. Trump even gave a hint in his campaign speeches that he might pardon Arpaio.

Lacey believes that Trump pardoned Arpaio because he wanted to influence his support base, the nationalists, who regarded Arpaio like a hero. Considering the character of Trump’s campaign speeches, it seems that he followed this strategy which proved effective. He pandered to his support base by saying that he may pardon Arpaio and it seemed to work in favor of the president.

Eventually, Lacey and Larkin received settlement cash and used it to establish the Frontera Fund which now helps Latinos for their First Amendment rights protection. Even if Arpaio is out of prison, Frontera Fund is helping to resolve some of the issues and problems that the former sheriff has caused.

The aim of this organization is to fight against the legacy of Arpaio. Aside from Frontera Fund, Lacey and Larkin are also going back to writing by launching the Front Page Confidential. This is a website that is supposedly dedicated to the First Amendment and free speech.

Campaign Organizers Buy Back Time With Distributed Canvassing

Every campaign field organizer dreads the grueling task of having to put together foot canvassing strategies, which are primarily comprised of constructing voter lists and mapping the areas of these potential voters. Needless to say, this can be viewed as both tedious and time-consuming. The cries and woes of campaign field organizers everywhere have not gone unheard. Distributed Canvassing, an ingenious app, was designed to aid in the efficiency of the turf cutting workflow process from start to finish. Thanks to the innovative minds at NGP VAN, this new product significantly shaves off the time, which previously would have been devoted to the inner workings of the otherwise arduous task known as cutting turf.

NGP VAN a Washington. D.C. based technology company, led by CEO Stu Trevelyan, is currently one of the leaders in the development and implementation of campaigning technology for democratic campaigns, as well as assisting non-profit organizations in their fundraising initiatives. From targeted emails and drip campaigns to compliance reporting and event management, NGP VAN’s desire was to create a seamless blanket of support and organization tools for the campaigns and companies it serves, that would help to condense and streamline business processes, increase efficiency, and most importantly, be cost-effective.

Introduced to the public during the Democratic National Convention in 2017, Distributed Canvassing was born out of NGP VAN’s response to feedback given, in regards to a previous campaigning app called Knock 10. Now in its beta phase, Distributed Canvassing is able to carry out the functions of its predecessor, Knock 10, which allowed campaign field organizers the ability to create voter lists, as well as corresponding maps. However, in addition to that, it presents to its user a comprehensive smorgasbord of additional features that relatively automates the campaigning process. Campaign managers and field organizers are able to fundraise, collect donations, connect with volunteers in multiple locations, maintain direct contact with voters via email and social media, as well as generate compliance reports. Already the recipient of loads of positive feedback from its beta testers; it’s truly a game changer within the campaigning and non-profit arenas.

A Clear and Present Danger

Thanks to what happened at the end of World War II the world knows the horrible power of nuclear energy. The United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan, devastating two complete cities and causing irreparable damage to families caught in the blasts.

The same threat looms over the Middle East in current times, with the state of Iran working hard to produce nuclear weapons of its own. Learn more about Daniel Taub: and

While this has occurred before in other nations, they were produced for defensive purposes and to deter the possibility of large-scale warfare.

Iran made its goals public on international news, clamining that they intended to use nuclear armament to wipe the state of Israel from the face of the world. Israel takes this threat extremely seriously, especially Daniel Taub, an Israeli diplomat who calls Israel not only his home but also the land that God had promised his people.

Daniel Taub has already done so much for Israel through his position as an ambassador. Thanks to his work on the United Kingdom both nations now share a 200% increase in international trade. Israel, as a result of this magnificent deal, has been able to develop businesses throughout Western Europe. Read more: Daniel Taub | Wikipedia and Daniel Taub | LinkedIn

After his work in the UK was completed Daniel Taub left his post and was restationed in Israel where he planned on working towards peace in the Middle East. Taub has already increased relations between Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.

Beyond this, he plans on working towards dismantling the Iranian nuclear program, but realizes that he can not do it alone. In an attempt to sway the thoughts of the world Daniel Taub has taken his concerns to the United Nations.

He seeks an increase in sanctions against Iran’s program and hopes that the UN will see through the jaded promises of Iran and look towards the safety of the Jewish community.

These are difficult times for Israel, and the rest of the world needs to take notice of the potential danger that a nuclear Iran could present. As long as Daniel Taub is working the case he will continue to do anything he can to sway the hearts and minds of those who can make international decisions in these matters.

The world may be in the hands of a Jewish man who wants nothing more than world peace and prosperity for everyone involved regardless of race of economic position.

Joe Arpaio Has Demonstrated His Abuse Of Power With The Arrests of Jim Larkin and Mike Lacey

Armed deputies from the “Selective Enforcement Unit” of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio arrested Jim Larkin and Mike Lacey on October 18th, 2007 during the evening-time. They were both removed by force from their homes in the Phoenix, Arizona area and pushed into SUVs that were not marked and had tinted windows that were very dark along with license plates from Mexico. Later on Jim and Mike, who both work for The Village Voice, found themselves in different jails from each other, and it was no surprise that these jails were managed by Joe Arpaio.

Arpaio, who calls himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff” is the man who pushed to have them both arrested, because of his anger at the Phoenix New Times negative portrayal of him. It was Arpaio’s anti-Mexican paranoid attitude and politics in Arizona that caused them to cover his story after conventional newspapers ignored it. The strange financial irregularities and misuse of power demonstrated by the Sheriff’s office was reported by the Phoenix New Times as well as his poor treatment of jail inmates. Arpaio’s unconstitutional treatment of Latinos was also brought to light by The Times.

The story that Larkin and Lacey wrote that got them jailed showed how Arpaio broke ties with the constitution and and had the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office hand out grand jury subpoenas looking for the Phoenix Times writers and editors as well as the personal IP addresses and browsing histories of its readers. Larkin and Lacey did not give in, but instead wrote about the incident. Larkin and Lacey were released from jail within 24 hours with all charges dropped due to a large national outpouring of negative attention. Afterwards, a long battle in court occurred over their illegal detention as well as the abuse of power demonstrated by Arpaio’s office. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in 2012, commented and agreed that Sheriff Arpaio’s actions were a direct affront to the First Amendment and also recognized that the grand jury subpoenas served by the Sheriff were invalid meaning that the arrests of Larkin and Lacey were without probable cause at all.

Instead of keeping the settlement money all to themselves, both Larkin and Lacey decided to give it to the Frontera Fund, which is in place to aid the Hispanic Community that has been the target of so many racial and civil rights abuses. They plan on continuing to help the Latino community going into the future.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin: Rolling Out a New Website

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have been friends since their college days. They founded the Phoenix New Times when they were younger, and they managed to become the publication’s editors in chief through the years. They have been writing helpful articles for their readers that provide information about the present state of migrants in the United States, and they are also using their publication to attack personalities like Joe Arpaio, who has been criticized because of his harsh stance on the plight of illegal migrants. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have been in a constant battle with Joe Arpaio, and they have pointed out how the “America’s Toughest Sheriff” is abusing his powers and violating the First Amendment for his selfish goals. This constant head-on battle resulted in the arrest of Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin.

The public made uproar after the arrest of the two. Pressured by the public’s reaction, the judge who is handling their case dropped it, stating that there is indeed a lack of evidence for the case filed against Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. The two decided to file a counter lawsuit because of the illegal arrests, and they won. The money that was awarded to them, amounting to $3.75 million, was used to create the Frontera Fund. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are using the Frontera Fund to host events that benefit the migrant population around the United States.

Today, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin will be rolling out a new website for the migrant population, called the Front Page Confidential. They will keep an eye to people who are discriminating the migrants, especially Joe Arpaio, and they promised the migrant population in the United States that they will be protecting their rights against personalities who are expressing their grudges against them. Migrants across the United States thanked Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin for their assistance.

Charter schools are not the solution. Innovation is.

In a very passionate and fiery speech, on charter schools, Betsy DeVos delivered yet again a thought provoking speech that really points out how much our educational system has failed our students.”We don’t need 500-page charter school applications. That’s not progress. That’s fundamentally at odds with why parents demanded charters in the first place.” Betsy Devos is truly the voice of our young people’s future.

Charter Schools

It is safe to say that many public schools have greatly failed our students. So, as a result, many charter schools have all popped up. However, these charter schools are not really fixing the educational system. It is merely just a band aid, a small one at best, that is only covering u the wound and not healing the wound.”No one has a monopoly on innovation. No one has a monopoly on creativity. No one has a monopoly on knowing how every child learns”, Betsy DeVos told a crowd. This notion speaks volume for those lost children who are trapped in a system that has no site to get them beyond the nightmarish reality they live in.For many who send their children to charter schools, they believe that they are giving their children a better chance, which is why so many parents do this. Now, there is nothing wrong with this because good parents want whats best for their children. But as mentioned previously, charter schools are only band aids to a wound that needs real surgery.

The Solution

When it comes to education as Betsy Devos so beautifully put, education should by no means be given only to certain people. This is America, education should be given to all people. Her zeal and her passion to try and fix the educational system has really helped to give the children some hint of hope for a better future. In addition, her message of bringing innovation and entrepreneurship into the educational system is remarkable on so many different levels.Inspiring children, all children, to want to think outside the box and to want to succeed in life is something that will greatly improve the overall quality of our nation and she is doing a fantastic job in term of her message and ideology. The charter schools, public schools, and private schools should all be given the best quality of education and this is something that I can completely agree with and believe she is moving our educational system in the right direction.

Final Thoughts

Although this is America and people have the right to educate their children anywhere – it is incumbent that all our children can receive proper education and her mission and the message is very hopeful and warm to our future.

Betsy DeVos Means Devotion to Improved Education

Betsy DeVos’ sincere commitment to children’s education in a wholesome environment is evident not only in her financial records but also in her appointments calendar. Mrs. DeVos donated or pledged more than $13 million during the year 2015 and served numerous hours on several charitable foundations’ boards. Additionally, she lends her time to mentoring and tutoring young students, particularly in her home state of Michigan. I believe her dedication, which began in the 1990s at The Potter’s House School, will continue to bring positive change to the education arena. From her upbringing by a public school teacher mother to her earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, through her appointment as Secretary of Education in 2017 Betsy DeVos has dedicated much of her life to school children. Beginning in 1994, according to the U. S. Department of Education’s website, she first sat on The Potter’s House School advisory board.

Her experience with the teachers, parents, and students of the school encouraged her to pursue national efforts to offer freedom of education choice to families of all ethnic groups and income levels. Since 2008, Mrs. DeVos has served on or chaired several boards including the Foundation for Excellence in Education, the Great Lakes Education Project, and the American Education Reform Council. Additionally, she – with her husband, son and other family members – has formed foundations supporting education efforts of school-aged youth. Among these organizations are the Dick & Betsy DeVos Family Foundation and ArtPrize. Noted on Glasspockets, a philanthropy information provider, she and her husband formed the Dick & Betsy DeVos Family Foundation in 1989 to support education, arts, justice, and leadership development endeavors. ArtPrize is the work of Betsy DeVos’ son and is a non-profit art competition.

Although I am impressed with the amount of time Mrs. DeVos dedicates in her hands-on approach to improving children’s education, I also applaud her financial contributions. As shown when the education news site, Politico, examined her foundation’s tax records, Betsy DeVos assisted with providing numerous foundations with millions of dollars earmarked for improving the education environment. The DeVos’ provided $150,000 to the New York City Success Academy Charter Schools in 2015, with another $150,000 approved for future payment. They provided the beloved Potter’s House with $200,000 and gave $113,500 to Ferris State University, a public school in Michigan. These are only a few examples of the schools and organizations the DeVos Foundation helps to fund. Betsy DeVos takes quality and availability of children’s education plus her ability to improve it seriously.

HRF’s Thor Halvorssen Tells FOX News: Democratic Socialist Over Dictatorship Policies

The Human Rights Foundation founder is quick to assert to FOX News that socialism is a violation of basic human rights. Then many might ask, why did Thor Halvorssen just write the largest contribution allowable to the campaign of democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders?

To the HRF President and CEO, it’s quite simple, and he explained it to FOX’ Trish Regan duringThe Intelligence Report. Halvorssen has a larger problem with the two front-runners Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, because they both favor dictatorship policies, Trump for aligning himself with Russia’s Putin and Hillary accepting multi millions of dollars from dictatorships around the world.

“I would rather have a democratic socialist than a supporter of dictators in the White House,” Halvorssen stated.

Halvorssen believes that to end poverty, one must create more wealth by encouraging the rule of the free markets, but he also explains that democratic socialism can exist. As long as the branches of government are held responsible, there is separation of power and constitutional rights, then this aspect of socialism is alright.

When countries exist under the mask of socialism, claiming to help the people but instead take over and loot the country, then it is unacceptable, Thor Halvorssen emphasized to Regan. He used the South American country of Venezuela as an example.

“The government decides prices are going to be a certain way. Because they set the prices, what ends up happening, massive lay-offs. What you have now coming up is a humanitarian crisis,” Halvorssen stated.

Halvorssen knows plenty about Venezuela since his father was taken in as a political prisoner there. In addition, his mother was shot by the Hugo Chavez regime, and a first cousin is currently jailed in Venezuela under similar circumstances.

A human rights advocate and film producer, Halvorssen founded the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) in the spring of 2005.
